K-Electric — Operations Centre

K-Electric required a full fit-out for their newly consolidated operations centre — a space that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, supporting both desk-based monitoring teams and field coordination staff. The brief focused on durability above all else: furniture that could withstand round-the-clock use without showing wear, with ergonomic considerations built in for staff working extended shifts. The open-plan area needed 80 straight workstations in a high-density configuration with clear sightlines to the operations display screens. A dedicated training room required modular furniture that could be rearranged for different session formats. Manager cabins along the perimeter needed acoustic panels to allow confidential calls without disrupting the main floor.

The training room was the most complex element — K-Electric ran sessions ranging from 8-person workshops to 40-person inductions in the same space, with no time to bring in external help for reconfiguration between sessions. We designed a flip-top nesting table system with castors that any staff member could rearrange and stack in under 10 minutes. The operations floor also had a raised access floor panel running through the centre of the workstation zone — every desk leg position had to be mapped against the panel grid to avoid blocking access points.
